Ultram Precautions

Before you start taking Ultram you should inform your doctor about any allergic reactions you have ever experienced, especially if they involved any of Ultram's components. This drug is composed of different active and passive ingredients that may lead to allergic reactions. Thus speaking to your doctor before starting the course is a good way to prevent any unpleasant experiences during the use of this drug.

Your doctor should be informed about your medical history, especially if it contains entries such as brain disorders, mental conditions, breathing issues, kidney or liver conditions, substance abuse, gastrointestinal conditions and urination problems.

Ultram can induce dizziness and drowsiness in some users. It is highly recommended to avoid driving, operating any machinery or performing hazardous tasks after your first use of Ultram before you actually know how this medication affects your sense of awareness. It is also discouraged to mix Ultram with alcohol or recreational drugs since the sedative effects of these substances can be increased by such an interaction.

Older patients are usually more sensitive to the effects of this drug, especially what concerns drowsiness, dizziness, digestion and urination.

Pregnant women should use Ultram only in cases of utter emergency. It is not recommended to use this drug for a long period of time especially close to the delivery date since it may harm the baby. You should consult with your doctor regarding the use of Ultram during pregnancy in order to understand all the risks involved. It is observed that women who have used this medication for a long period of time during pregnancy give birth to babies with pronounced withdrawal symptoms such as abnormal crying, diarrhea, vomiting and irritability. In case you notice such symptoms in your baby you should consult with your doctor as soon as possible and tell that you've been using Ultram during pregnancy.

Ultram is known to pass into breast milk, so it is not recommended to use this medication if you're nursing at the moment in order to avoid posing harm to the baby. Consult your physician regarding the use of Ultram before starting to breast-feed. If your child shows such symptoms as abnormal sleepiness, feeding problems or breathing difficulties after you've used Ultram you should immediately consult with your doctor.
